I really do admire Kyle Bean’s work. The actual advert is only 31 seconds!

Soooo after creating a Behance account, months ago, I’ve finally put some of my projects on it. I’m getting the hang of it! My next step is to create a website to showcase my work…I’m working on it.
This is the result of a very intense 5 week group project. Last term I worked on a brief were we had to make a publication based on anything; the three of us decided to look at drawing typography.
Learning to write is a completely new process for children, the same can be said for a designer when learning to draw a new typeface. We created ‘ABClarendon’ to take the viewer through the methods, which are used to teach children how to write, and applied them to the process of learning a typeface.
We identified the 4 main learning stages, of writing, as:
We designed the publication to be an A4 sized exercise book that can be written in, just like those children receive at the early stages of school.
This is a very handy booklet, about publication design, given to me by Ken Kirton from Hato Press.
I haven’t uploaded a post for a while - bad. But it’s OK because I was busy producing work - good.
To end a project, that we had last term, a few groups from our course released a modest book launch where we had the opportunity to show our publications to industry partners and the rest of LCC for about 3 hours. It was a nice way to celebrate what we had accomplished just before we headed off into the Easter break.

A while ago I conducted a survey about typographical terms, and here’s what I did with the results. This is one, of many, drafts. I have a few versions where the letters are printed with letterpress.
I can’t quite make my mind up with this one. I’d appreciate some constructive criticism.

I’m currently working, within a group, on a collaborative project with Hato Press. So…close…to…finishing.
I’ve never considered myself to be a huge fan of typography, I liked it, I understood why it was important, but I didn’t love it. However, since studying typography a little more closely, I think I’m beginning to. I’ve recently bought this Adobe Caslon Pro specimen book from Two Times Elliott and I love it! I’m not sure if it’s the detailed focus on the font, or the fact that it’s been riso printed that makes me like it so much. But whatever the reason, it’s a really nice publication to add to my library…and I just might buy another.
